RECRUITMENT RULES FOR THE ITALIAN MEDICAL RESERVE OFFICERS
In Italy there is an association of all the officers, included the medical ones.
It is possible to define two types of reserve medical officers:
- Those who have completed their compulsory military service as officers;
- Those who belong to the “selected reserve”, which is a novelty for the Italian army. The latter ones attend a formation course at the Scuola di applicazione in Turin; after that they receive the degree of officer of the selected reserve.
The service lasts from 45 days to 6 months. Of course, an officer can refuse the call.
There are also some voluntary medical officers who belong to the Italian military Red Cross who can be recalled as reservists.
Every armed force, like Army, Navy, Air force and Carabinieri, have its own medical officers.
